Five clubs under 1 roof, and we mean 5 clubs, not 5 rooms. This venue had to be seen to be believed. It was an impressive venue to say the least. Each room featured completely different decorations, separate sound and independent bars and staff. You could literally walk around the club all night and never run into any of your friends.
The club opened to much hype, and unlike most of the clubs we've seen, this club actually lived up to it. The grand opening weekend was like anything we'd ever seen (actually to this day we have never seen anything quite like that grand opening). It was honestly impressive. The parking lots around the downtown area were filled to the brim, and they were charging $50!!!! (that's more than what they charge at heat games). Parking was almost impossible, but actually getting into the club was the real challenge. Everyone, and we mean everyone was there. The entire outside of the venue was filled with people.
Metropolis turns to be the venture of Miami's own Mandy Fernandez (if you are too young to know who he is google him and you'll get the scoop). There are all kind of rumors about why, how, with who and all that kind of hearsay about how Mandy opened Metropolis. We lived it first hand, and let us tell you, it was crazy. Mandy hired all of the promoters that were in Miami to promote metropolis. He hired the best, and he hired the rest. All in all, he turned metropolis into the hottest club in Miami. But just as quickly as metropolis went up, it came crashing down.
After just s few short months, all of the promoters were complaining about their promised rates and that they'd never seen a dime from Metropolis. The lines at the club were still long, just that now they were during the day and formed by promoters trying to get paid. They actually hired security for the daytime (and a huge rottweiler) to keep things in check.
Metropolis never recovered and eventually closed. It is now known as Discotekka.
